HOW DOES SHR LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
By targeting the area under the skin’s surface, your skin is left completely intact and untouched with virtually no visible symptoms. The laser treatment is also paired with an effective air cooling tool on the surface so that your skin feels a little warm and tingly, at most. Unlike other laser treatments and short-term waxing, you won’t experience any superficial burns or pain and there’s no need for numbing or anesthesia.

UNDERSTANDING THE STAGES OF HAIR GROWTH
A hair in the active growth or "Anagen" phase of growth has unique properties. These physical characteristics make the hair follicle extremely vulnerable to the laser. All hair containing melanin will absorb the laser beam, but only those in the active phase of growth are susceptible to being permanently destroyed. To understand exactly how laser hair removal works and why more than one treatment session is needed, it is important to know the three growth cycles of hair:
Anagen Phase: Also known as the growth phase, this stage of hair growth typically takes 3-5 years and determines hair length.
Catagen Phase: During this transitional phase, which lasts approximately 10 days or so, the hair follicle begins to shrink and hair prepares to shed.
Telogen Phase: The resting phase is the final stage of hair growth, lasting anywhere between 2-4 months and characterized by gradual hair shedding.
Laser hair removal only works on hair during the active growth phase. This means patients usually need to undergo multiple hair removal treatment sessions, spaced 5-8 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.

WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser hair removal involves using pulses of laser light to destroy hair follicles in unwanted parts of your body. For women, this may be the back, face, legs and pubic area. For men, this may be the chest, stomach and underarms. One of the most incredible benefits of this hair removal method is it’s effective on nearly every region of the body.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?
After each treatment session, you may see a 10-15% decrease in hair follicles. Typically, total hair removal will require between six and twelve sessions, which should be scheduled between four and eight weeks apart. Some patients may experience redness or sensitivity in the treatment area, which subsides within a few hours. Following your laser hair removal treatment, most patients are able to return to work, school, or other normal routine activities right away. Following completion of treatment, there may be some smaller hairs that remain and are resistant to treatment, however the vast majority of hair is permanently removed.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?
Laser hair removal is permanent hair reduction, not permanent hair removal. It's not uncommon for patients to require maintenance treatments once a year, even after the area has been fully treated. The reason: The laser targets and destroys your current hair follicles, but new follicles can develop due to hormonal changes or shifts in weight.
